Narrative Description of Project:

• The WASH policy aimed at providing a sector wide approach to improving human well being in general and the provision of safe drinking water and sanitation coverage in particular, in accordance with Afghanistan’s National Development Strategy (ANDS) goals. The policy document contains policy norms, capacity development of Afghanistan governmental institutions, improved coordination with implementing partners, monitoring and evaluation, management information systems and anational strategy and financing plan for implementing the policy.

  
  

Description of Actual services provided by the staff

• Facilitated the formulation of the WASH policy through a multi-stakeholder consultation approach, involving a mix of research methods including field visits, participatory workshops, group discussions and in-depth consultations, held with national Government Ministries and local governance bodies, UN agencies, Institutional Donors and NGOs.

• Development of a national strategy and financing plan to implement the strategy.
