Narrative description of Project:

  • The Stop Diarrhoea Initiative (SDI) a flagship programme of Save the Children with a focus on 9 districts in 4 states, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Delhi. The initiative aim was:

  • At least 50% reduction in the prevalence of diarrhea amongst children under five by the end of the programme.

  • At least 50% reduction in the incidence of acute diarrhea among children under five by the end of the programme from three to four episodes to less than two per year

  • An estimated 80% reduction in diarrhea Case Fatality Rate (CFR) in clinics in under five deaths by the end of the programme

  • 13% across intervention reduction in diarrhea related deaths amongst children under five by the end of the programme


Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:

  • Training a batch of 40 – 50 participants on sites selected by SDI on CLTS

  • Training of the District Programme Officers, Community Volunteers, BCC persons involved in the implementation of Stop Diarrhea Initiative

  • Action plans for Pre Triggering, Triggering, Follow-up, Training and Capacity Building

  • Participatory training with specific features of urban and rural geographies of the SDI
